But it’s very special, gourmet, steel. And they do work extremely well for anything that needs intense heat. I have probably spent 3 times that on cracked pizza stones over the years. The 1 hour pre-heat time is a bit of a drawback on a boat though.

I'd source a piece of mild steel plate and see how in affects the temperature in the rest of the oven.
