New GRP gas locker going into the port aft cockpit locker next week.

Question: - I have the cockpit drains lines running through the aft locker and then out the transom. Is it acceptable to run the vent line from the locker and tap into this line to act as the vent as opposed to putting in new skin fitting on the hull?

Have juggled with a similar situation and IMHO the answer is No.
Anything other than a dedicated vent will fail the Boat Safety Scheme, which is certainly the direction in which standards are moving, and make sense too.

I assume you are referring to the drain from the gas locker not a vent.
You may require a vent as well as a drain if the gas locker has a sealed lid.

It might be acceptable if the cockpit drain outlet is always above water and that gas could could not find its way into the cabin via the cockpit but I suggest that you read Chapter 7 of the Boat Safety Scheme

What you are proposing would be frowned upon, I think, and you only need an over enthusiastic surveyor to put the cat among the pigeons

No, it needs to be to a seperate skin fitting not through the cockpit drains. Most surveyors would consider it a no no. We also have had to take the handle off the gate valve which is on the gas drain skin fitting as it was deemed to be dangerous to have a gas drain with a closing device on it.
