One ring on my Smev hob keeps going out. It will burn for 5 minutes then cuts out; relights but soon goes out again.
Sometimes on test without a pan it stays on longer.
I thought that I would just order a new sensor but, on reflection, it seems as if the poistion of the sensor in the flame could be an issue rather than a faulty sensor.
Can anyone advise please?

The tip of the sensor must be in the flame, on mine I found that there was some rust in the "flame distributor" deflecting the flame so it didn't warm the sensor.
Used a tip of a screwdriver to scrape the rust off.

You sometimes find that the flame will stay lit without a pan on it but will trip off soon after a pan is placed. This is because the flame directed at the thermocouple is slightly deflected causing the t/c to cool. See if you can adjust the position of the t/c or the burner cap to ensure the flame hits the t/c all the time.

I had a similar problem with my force10cooker. Turned out to be the conn of the sensor wire to the on/off rotary switch . The conn looked fine but appeared to be slightly ."varnished". I quick clean with fine wet and dry solved the problem .
