Gas Hob Heat Sensor Takes Ages to Warm Up!

I think so, yes.

I've been on lots of cheap charter boats with this problem, I used to think it was normal. My own boat now lets you release the button after a couple of seconds. I believe the thermocouples get tired, and are available as spares.

Had same problem with mine till just this weekend. Cleaned out all the burner holes with a suitable size drill bit, just by turning in your fingers not a drill. Improved the flame back to blue and stopped the cutting out because I suppose the thermocouple is hotter.

Although it does sound like a clean up, as suggested, might do the trick the story reminded me of a fault which ocurrred with our plastimo hob/grill.
A failure to stay alight issue on ours ocurred when a fresh gas cylinder was fitted. The gas was not burning correctly - the flames were weak and intermittent. This affected both of the burners. The gas cylinder had been sitting around for some months. Taking the cylinder out of the locker and shaking it well , to stir the liquid gas, cured the fault.

Another possibility , if the gas is not burning correctly , could be a faulty regulator.

And an easier thing to check...

You might just find that when you light it on FULL, the flame just spreads out and totally misses the sensor (if the sensor is mounted by the central ring).

Hard to describe - but if you light it and then count to ten whilst the knob is on the LOW setting, you might find it heats the sensor perfectly well and you only need to count to five...

I get this problem from time to time with my Force 10. The instructions say:

Take off knob, and turn the gas on at the same time pushing inwards on the gas tap stem. If it lights its not a problem with the thermocouple. What happens is the knob slides on to the valve stem too far touching the body of the stove too soon, and thus does not allow the thermocouple to connect. Replace the knob, but don't push it on so far.

I reset the knobs at least twice a season on the force 10.

Hopefully the plastimo design is the same, in which case it should work.
