I would like to buy a small gas heater. I know that in the process of heating up the air, they also produce water. However, has anyone tried out these new portable gas heaters that use cartridges? appr £80. The one I have been looking, it has oxygen deplition valve and is catalytic; approx 1.3kw?

My other option is to buy a Route catalytic heater connecting it permanently to the gas system. The Midi produces 1.7KW; price is £110. What is your experience on these two.
 
I noticed a small cartridge heater in the Argos catalogue c 50GPB - no 29.99, also a catalytic heater at 40, but that didn't look too stable - set me thinking - a feat in itself.
 
I have had catalitic heaters on 3 boats, I,ve found them effective, with no noticeable drawbacks.
I,ve voiced the same opinion on here before, but I am surprised how no one has shared my enthusiasm!
If I was in cooler climes more often, yes I would invest in a Dickinson diesel heater, but as we spend winter in marinas these days, using a fan heater, I have not been able to wrench 1k out of the wallet to buy a D/son. The gas thing is fine on the odd cool evening away from the leccy.. Bill.

I really do appreciate that CO is dodgy, of course, but the engine, the cooker, produce CO, it seems illogical to home in on a catalitic heater, with a flame fail/low oxy cut out.

As I,ve said, a few times before, I have been useing them for 25+yrs and think they are convenient, safe, to use with the usual precautions associated with gas devices.
But, ok, we all have our hang ups! Bill.
