One of the heavily rusted mantles on my 1980`s Eastham Maxol gas cooker has fallen apart. Not wanting to go down the route of entirely replacing a perfectly good cooker at nearly £ 400.00, I wondered if anybody knew of a repair centre for marine/camping cookers. After all, if I strip out the burners I am left with two convenient holes in the stainless steel top into which I could install new burners. There are no leads on the internet for spares for my cooker or links to repairers.

All you can really do is try your local caravan / camping shop to see what spares they do. Southampton Calor Gas Centre might be able to help but the days of gas diy seem to be disapearing under so called safety legislation!

You are probably find that sourcing spares is going to be difficult because you are not corgi registered. The whole industry is now bound up with regulations.

Can't find the details at the moment, it will take me until Thursday to get at the files, but there is a firm who supplied me with a pair of replacement burners, no problem, about £15 for the two a couple of years back.

I'll post their details when I can dig them out.

I too went to the stage of nearly buying a new cooker, but luckily found the a source. It might even have been Stoves plc up in Lancashire, but whoever it was I will find it and post the detiais. They deserve good publicity.
