Gas - am I alone on this?

If you go the diy route (which I would) download the boat safety scheme guide first and do it to comply with their regs and you won't go far wrong, as long as you are happy that you are competent enough to do the job properly.

I have not bothered to read the CORGI standards but I bet they don't approve of DIY. A bit of a shame really because it is not difficult to replace 2ft of rubber hose and make sure there are no leaks.
