We have the above chart plotter- delighted with it BUT....The batteries are charged up at 13.8 yet on the screen it is showing 12v or even 11.07 This is worrying me. Somewhere on this forum I read that there is an internal battery in the chart plotter.

Questions; Is it this battery. Can I replace it. How to do so. Is it something else

Thanks in anticipation

Peter

No, I believe the value you are seeing is the ship's voltage, nothing to do with the internal battery that is only there so the set remembers your settings when it is turned off. These days this is done in other ways and the old battery problem may not exist in newer sets. Sounds like you have a bad connection in the supply to the set. Time to get your meter out!

Many many thanks Vyv, yup that was the the prob. Checked connections and now the plotter is showing a constant 13.8 Phew what a relief.

I've had the same problem with the set giving a low battery warning which I assumed was spurious. I reset the warning by a couple of decimals and it stopped the warnings but perhaps I too need to check the supply; thanks Vyv.
