For a punt, I bought one of the old Garmin Streetpilot 3 units off Ebay.
It seems to work OK and has all the connecting leads, handbooks and the Maps CD. Idea was to use as a backup to my chartplotter and to use the NMEA output for the DSC on the VHF radio.
Also bought a Bluechart off Ebay with the Channel Charts, dating back to 2007.
When datacard is inserted into the Streetpilot, I get a picture of a datacard and the message "datacard loading, please wait" in flashing characters.
It has done this for over 10 minutes now!
How long should it take for the GPS to load the data off the Bluechart, any ideas?
Is there a reason why the data isn't being loaded or should I just leave it running until something happens?
Does anyone have a card I can try in the Streetpilot or to try the card in a Garmin chartplotter to test both are OK? Somewhere near Langstone or my home in Epsom would be great.
