Richard,

Just out of interest, what did you expect the ICOM to send over the NMEA port, before you asked the forum?
I'm wondering what other situations could justify a message from the VHF to the plotter.

When I first dabbled with NMEA a few years ago, I discovered that Garmin had decided to add a 'G' to their NMEA word strings and, as such, other manufacturers could not read the Garmin units. I decided to stick with Garmin.
