I have just connected the NMEA0183 data out from The Garmin Port 1 (lo speed) to my Radar repeater. Picking up most data on the repeater (Furuno FMD811) but not depth, (nor time and date).

The depth data is coming in to Port 1 from the Seatalk Tri-data ST50. The Garmin displays the depth data, but doesn't seem to stream the data back out on the same port, nor is it sending its internal time / date data out to the Repeater.

I do have the Data Bridging set to On on the Garmin.

Is this normal or should it bridge the data in on port 1 back out on the same port ?

If so I will have to live with it because Port 2 is used for hi speed AIS in from the VHF.

Should it send its internal Date & Time data out on NMEA0183 ?

Thanka all.

You wouldn't normally expect data to be sent back out of the same port - it produces a feedback loop.
So you need a multiplexer such as :

http://www.shipmodul.com/en/index.html

OR according to the manual, bridging only refers to data being bridged from NMEA 0183 to the NMEA 2000 port so is not relevant unless you install a nmea01083 to nmea 2000 adaptor. eg http://www.actisense.com/products/nmea-2000/ngw1.html (~ £100)

All the nmea 0183 data 'from any source' (states the manual) is sent out the nmea 2000 port so it should include the incoming data + all the Garmin generated data. (If the Furuno has a NMEA2000 input then connect it via this instead)

In other words, you are giving the Furuno a NMEA 2000input and connecting it to the Garmin via this. (I am amazed that the Furuno does not have a NMEA 2000 input)

The Furuno FMD811 is from the 1980's, so predates NMEA2000.

I will look into a convertor from NMEA2000 to 0183, as it have the 2k backbone already installed and connected to the Garmin, so presumably all the data is sitting there.

Blimey - thats more than I paid for the entire NMEA2K backbone. I was expecting around £30 not £90.

Obviously a high rate of Hamble Added Tax !

<20 quid to manufacture, + their profit + distributor and reseller profits = £90

Sounds like an ideal yapp for Angus McD..
