On my last trip across the Thames from sunny Suffolk to the Medway I had my GPSMAP 620 as primary nav and my Yeoman plotter (I know its old hat, but I still love being able to plot directly onto a paper chart) as secondary, and finally my iPhone and iPad as backups. I discovered on setting off my Yeoman was dead due to water ingress from when I was painting my deck and my GPSMAP had lost all its bleeding charts!!
Navionics, of course, came to the rescue and we got home without bumping into anything.
Occasionally, the GPSMAP will lose the SD card - it simply thinks the chart SD card is not there (which is actually a micro SD plugged into an adapter). I've taken it apart and the connectors look good and clean - no sign of any water ingress on any boards either. I've changed the micro SD adapter also. Now I have it on my desk at my office it is playing nicely and refused to lose the charts
. Its updated to the latest firmware also.
Any thoughts?
