Garmin gpsmap 450 chart update?

Hi I inherited this chartplotter on my recently purchased yacht. It works fine but it has an out of date map and no type of sd card installed.

I'm wondering if it's going to be viable to update the map or better/cheaper to just use my tablet.

That came with preloaded UK charts, you can buy charts on an SD card, but they aren't cheap.
