We have a Garmin 5012 GPS unit.
This morning while sailing it suddenly dropped the GPS signal and said it could not find a fix.
All our other Garmin instruments the. Stopped showing data.
So we turned everything off and restarted the nmea system, and it worked for about 5 mins.
Once we got into port we shut down everything and the went through all our electronics.
The instruments work fine, as does the autopilot ( all Garmin).
The instruments also recieve the GPS data from the mushroom sensor, so we know that works.
Have checked all the connections. Nothing loose.

Any ideas?

I think the unit has a low voltage alarm. Nothing went off .Plus the engine was running and the batteries fully charged

I had something similar a while ago. I ended up replacing an N2K T piece and the problem never came back. I suspect there must have been a poor connection.
