Switched on the GPS 128 today, first time for quite a while cos the boats been out of the water and a new instrument panel has been fitted. It says 'acquiring EPE', then it asks to enter what country you're in, which I did. In a few minutes it came back and asked for the country again. Tried autolocate for 4 hours before I gave up. I'm hoping it's something simple like the internal battery, but I can still see the waypoints that have been entered.
Can the experts please cast some light?

Thanks Boatbuilder, but I've just solved it. Took the back off and made sure the lithium battery contacts were good, bit of silicone spray and wonders it worked.

I had similar problem with A GPS76. It would not locate satellites. I thought it may have been damaged as we had a lighting strike near our house since it was used last.

Once it had gone through the sequence of trying to locate satellites it came up with a window one option of which was "Stored without Batteries" selected that, it went through sequence again and sorted itself out.
