Garmin GPS 128 Navigator

If a back-up is ever needed, don't we all have phones with GPS in them these days?

My phone - original Mk 1 Samsung Galaxy S - has GPS but it's painfully slow, and can easily take ten minutes or more to find out where it is. It's also not waterproof and eats battery charge. The GPS72 is a lovely piece of kit and will go a couple of days on three (?) AAs.

I have a Garmin gps 128 on the boat I have just bought. I don’t know anything about it but I can’t understand that it won’t lock on to any of the satellites it displaying on the screen. Can anyone tell me why? Thanks steve

I bitterly regret letting my Garmin 128 go with my last boat...we have inherited a Furuno GP30 (which I find as user friendly as a bidet full of Piranha) on Pagan Lady.
If anyone is interested in trading a fully working Furuno GP30 for a Garmin 128 or for that matter a Garmin 180 in equally good working condition please get in touch!

Why did Garmin discontinue these superb bits of kit?
