Garmin GPS 128 Internal Battery

I've posted this previously on Mobo forum with no luck so thought I'd try here.

Does anyone have any info on how to change the internal battery in a Garmin GPS 128 and what type of battery is required? Cheers. Phil

You have to unscrew the actual GPS from its mounting casing whether it is flush mounted or in its original casing. The back inner case can then be unscrewed and lifted off. Be carefull of the rubber O ring gasket. This then exposes the internal workings where you will find the battery mounted on the pcb.
Sorry but I cannot remember the battery number, it is one of those flat ones obtainable in Maplin or elsewhere.

Thanks Samyl. Can you recall if it's soldered in?

It is soldered in. It's a standard CR2032 or 25 3v lithium cell but with solder tags welded on.

I opened mine up because it was taking a long time to get an initial fix. Found the battery was showing 3v+ and left it.
