Garmin glo gps for Ipad

Received the Garmin Glo today. Isolated the wifi on Ipad 4 and connected Glo via Bluetooth. Turned on Navionics app and it worked just fine. Within 3 metres I would say.

On our dive boat we have exactly the set up you are planning on using. The Garmin works fine with Navionics but is strictly speaking not necessary, the Ipad GPS works just fine, and ours is also the wifi only. Like you, we decided on belt and braces, just in case..............

The ipad does not have GPS.

Does the iPad Have GPS? Can it Function as a GPS Device?

Question: Does the iPad Have GPS? Can it Function as a GPS Device?
Answer:
The iPad 3G and iPad 2 3G models contain an Assisted-GPS chip, which gives it location and navigation services. Combined with Google Maps, the iPad makes a great navigation device.

The Wi-Fi model of the iPad does not have an Assisted-GPS chip, but it can locate the user by using Wi-Fi triangulation. This isn't quite as accurate as Assisted-GPS, but it is fairly accurate. And because you obviously won't be using the Wi-Fi model in the car, it does the trick for automatically knowing where you are when you want to look up something on Yelp or another location-based service.
