Hi, I have a Garmin Echomap Pro 65vc and I am just about to update the chart to either G3 or G3 vision to get auto guidance.
Our boat will mainly be used in the south so if I go with the vision I can buy the southern G3 vision small chart.
There is only £40 difference between G3 regular and G3 vision small but some say the extra functions aren't really worth having.
The extra's on the vision are high resolution relief shading, high resolution satellite imagery, 3D views mariner eye/fish eye and aerial photography.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The aerial photography is useful now and again, the rest we barely use.

Annoyingly, for me the key feature of G3 is raster charts, but they're only US and selected spots for now, UK not included.

Thanks for your reply, the guy at marine superstore said something similar really.
If I was comparing the full G3 vision chart there is a massive price difference but as I can get away with the G3 vision small chart of the south there is only £40 difference.
So the 3D view or satalite view isn't used really on yours?

3D view gets occasional use, but that's mainly because we have sonar too, and fish targets can be overlaid on the underwater view...it's more novelty than particularly very useful though.

Satellite view, it says "hi res" but it's nowhere near as hi-res as for instance the hi-res satellite photography that Maxea/Timezero offers....we find it of limited use and tend to prefer the more traditional look of land offered with it turned off.

For the sake of £40 I'd probably go with the Vision version.
