Hi all,

My 'new' boat came with an aged Fishfinder 80, but it doesn't do anything (neither, however, do any of the electrics on board).

My multimeter shows power being supplied at two of the 'prongs' in the socket that attaches at the back, but in the absence of an instruction manual, I haven't a clue how to test it. I can't turn it on, but also don't know how to... My experience of other Garmin units is that you hold the lightbulb button..?

Any ideas would be very gratefully received.

Apologies for the paint dust on the back, BTW - that wasn't the critical factor - I tested before I spent a miserable afternoon with a drill and a radial paint stripper bit.

You can download the manual from the Garmin website. To save you the agony of looking for it, try here - http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/FishFinder80_Installation_QuickStartGuide.pdf

And please resize your photos to something more viewer-friendly!

Thanks both for the links. All I had been able to find was the installation manual, and the Garmin site still won't allow me to search it - it just returns me to the front page.

However - unfortunately, it seems I was doing the right thing, and it just won't switch on which isn't great.

I thought the pics were ok, btw - they're about a meg, which I didn't think was too crippling? Didn't check pixel width but apols if they were annoying.
