garmin data transfer

i have an unreliable garmin gpsmap232 that has a lot of waypoints, and a gpsmap168 to which I want to transfer the waypoints.
They are connected Tx to Rx, Rx to Tx on port1. Tthe receiver ( 168) is set with comms to Garmin Data transfer and receive waypoints, whereas the sender 232_ has been set to
host or send waypoints.

Both units say sending and receiving waypoints and conclude with transmission complete, but there are no more waypoints available afterwarsds.

I am baffled. any ideas

firstly there is no check sum sent at the end ot transmissions, so it says complete , evenif there is a fail.,

I suggest you use a prog like gps utility and down load them to that and upload to other GPS, or try the various other formats of export etc...

Ditto.. though my tool of choice would be EasyGPS...
