Garmin charts

I have just upgraded to a newer Garmin chart and bigger chart area. I still have the old (V17.00, 2016) VEU706L, UK, Ireland and NL card which I intended to sell on. However, when I loaded the new card I noticed that it "married" the card to my registered device. Does this mean that the old card cannot be used in another device and if so is there some way of "unlocking" it?

If the old card was pre loaded when you bought it should be ok in another unit, if you downloaded it to your own card it will be restricted to that unit (I think), I bought garmins UK topo map by download and I had to put the memory card in the plotter before I could copy the maps to it as the unit writes some xml to it with units serial details in.

Garmin's locking mechanism was cracked many years ago - a bit of creative web searching will yield the solution. It was developed by a high speed small rodent (are you any good at crossword clues?). Be aware that many versions of the key generator were infected with viruses - they need to be run on a throwaway machine.
