We recently bought a Beneteau Oceanis 45 and it came with B&G instruments and a SIMRAD Auto pilot. I would like to know if the Garmin chartplotter GPSMAP 8410XSV is compatible with the Simrad Autopilot. The autopilot model is AC42. I tried looking online to see a chart or list of autopilots compatible with this chartplotter, but I couldn't find anywhere. The instruments on the boat are connected to NMEA 2000 and the chart plotter can see every instrument except the autopilot which is very frustrating. Any idea on what to look for or how to make the connection happen?

I'm sure others will elaborate more.
Specs say it has one NMEA0183 in and one out, so you should be able to connect to the autopilot (which I hope does NMEA0183) and have a v.crude and basic connection.
Nothing fancy like deciding a route on the Garmin, hitting a button and automagically all is taken care of, don't think that's possible with different brand equipment anyway.

You cannot make the plotter see the autopilot. For that to happen they both have to be the same brand and even then they have to be similar ages, or be running certain software versions.

If everything is already on a N2K network, including the autopilot, you can select a waypoint or route on the plotter, select GOTO..... and the plotter will highlight the course, for you to follow. If the then engage the autopilot and tell it to steer to the waypoint/route, it will do so.

What you cannot do is the select the destination and engage the autopilot from the plotter (see paragraph one above)

If everything is on a N2K network, no need to use the 0183 connection.
