Where is the best place to get them? All the info on the net about them is contradictory.
Does anyone have a Solent chart they want to get rid of? Are they all the same?

Either small or regular charts. You can see the difference on these two links. Scroll down to see description
small charts http://www.garmin.com//cartography/bluechart/region.jsp?RegionPK=60
you want MEU001R

now you can do a google search on the product code for best price
Allgadgets have the regular size for £149.49 including VAT which is exceptional
http://www.seamarknunn.co.uk/catalog/items/item2607.htm have regular size for £188 which is pretty good. Most are near £200

I have MEU001R in my 188C plotter. Very good they are too but I don't think Allgadgets are doing them any more. Which Garmin unit do you have?

I've just been back to allgadgets site. Cards are still there, and you can put them in shopping basket at advertised price. Why do you think they are no longer sold?????

Tried to but one a month or so back - out of stock and not sure if Garmin were going to supply them any more. John must have sorted this problem out now

Also was wondering what stop anyone dishonestly making multiple copies onto several datacards - suppose it's blocked as I've never seen them much on e-bay.

That's a certificate to access a region on a cd. You have to buy the cd (which comes with a one region access code). Also need a datacard, and a datacard writer and cables if you are going the worldwide CD route, rather than a preprogrammed Bluechart card

I think I'm correct in saying that Garmin allow two plotters to share the information provided they are registered when the bluechart cd is activated. I may be talking bunkum since it's a while since I looked into this, but it does mean that a couple of friends can share a chart if they make their decisions in advance.

As I say I may have got the thing a bit wrong, but it's worth asking Garmin, maybe saying you own two personally....

I got my Bluechart CD from Ebay a few weeks ago - the latest UK version and even forking out VAT when delivered, I still saved about £35 on the UK price.

You are right, I use region one and you have two lives at registering it/unlocking it. The computer you download the CD onto registers the lives with a unit through it's serial number diresct to the PC. You have two lives just in case your unit gets broken or lost, so it depends what you want to do with the other one. Anyway I am in the US now for the next week or so if anyone needs anything /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
