Garmin 4010. Chinese GPS receiver.

Garmin 4010.
Cheapo ebay Mushroom.
Garmin only able to get a fix for a few seconds before losing it again.
Any suggestions.
Have tried relocating mushroom at various places with no luck.

surely that's with a NMEA0183 connection.
got the blue plug one zillion pin and tiny cables and are you sure you use the right wires for it?
is the mushroom new? battery good?
year 2K issues? does it show the right date when it gets a fix?

Its real cheap budget ebay mushroom.
Only 4 wires.
Red 12v +
Black 12v - also connected NMEA -
White NMEA + signal to plotter.
Green. Only Used for programming mushroom and cable tied back.
Chartplotter instantly gets afix when fed with a signal from different mushroom.

Weird thing is .....if you move the new mushroom (and of course its connecting cable. plotter sometimes gets a fix for 3 or 4 seconds before losing it again.)
Sent back to seller for testing who assures that it is not faulty.

How does he know this ?

Just get a refund, Ebay will step in if the seller messes you about.
