The cobra manual says to connect to a gps using it's little jack plug. This has 2 wires,1 red and 1 black, they say red goes to nmea + and black to nmea -.
Garmin has dedicated dsc wires but they are labeled nmea in and nmae out.I think this is to connect the plotter to a more expensive dsc unit which will display messages on the plotter screen.I'm certain my cheapo cobra won't do this.
So which wires go where? Do i just connect the 1 red to garmins nmea out and just ignore the black wire. Will this work, please help!

Cobra red wire connects to Garmin green wire. Cobra black wire connects to Garmin black wire. The you need to go into the Garmin's Comms menu and set up Port 2 for "NMEA in/NMEA out".
