I have a Garmin120 GPS which provides data for the VHF and Yeoman plotter. I have had it for years and its never missed a beat. It has started to take a very long time-up to 45 mins- to acquire a fix from start-up. It shows that it is aquiring satellites. Once it gets a fix it seems fine. Any suggestions as to the problem?

Possibly internal battery failing, hence losing stored satellite almanac data. Needs replacement. A dealer job, but perhaps possible DIY. Suggest forum search for latter.
Edit. Does it remember waypoints etc? AFAIK, these also rely on the internal battery. A fault message might come up on battery failure.

My Garmin III did that and it was the internal battery. Kept it for another couple of years but always had to tell it where in the world it was each time I switched it on.

Got a Garmin GPS V to replace from ebay for about 15 quid and that one is still going strong.
