Well almost!

The 'stream' at the end of our garden was a little more than that at 7am today. Shame I was working, otherwise I could have launched the boat without paying slipway fees. :D The photo doesn't do justice, but the usual 8-10" water was a full-on 3' deep torrent running around 20mph

Never seen that high before, so now wondering what are the odds of getting planning permission for a boathouse in advance? Always wanted a waterside property.

Sorry, finger trouble on my Android, was just trying to see the pics and ended up posting a non post.

That does not look good, especially with more rain forecast. Waterside properties are one thing, properties in water are an entirely different thing! Hope your house and property are OK.

Yes, more rain is pelting down now! I might wander down with a torch and see how it looks in a while. Thankfully the garden is over 300' long and we're at the other end, but the bungalows the other side are close to flooding (built on floodplain ) so need to keep a close eye on them. The ground here was already waterlogged with puddles all around the garden last weekend - even before the rain!

Not finished the Ark yet either! :D

Blimey thats scary. I hope your house isn't flooded

Thankfully not - we're slightly elevated and a fair distance away!

I like that! :D

Sorry Robin, noticed an obvious typo there - I assume you meant 'planing' permission for your boat :D

Has it subsided yet or are you still looking out over the water with G&T?

surely inland waterways there should be a speed restriction, or not?
maybe you can apply for exemption since it's private property we are talking about?
:D

Hope all's well tonight Rob, it's pretty horrendous here in Exeter tonight, waters higher than Wednesday morning.

I had a garden bench slowly circling around an eddy at the bottom of our garden yesterday. The dinghy had also launched itself off the slipway and was floating parallel to the stream.
According to my gauge the level was about 1.6m above normal. Down to about 1.2m this afternoon.

Bleedin raining again for the last 4hrs or so.

How bizarre, I was actually down the road from you when you posted that! Working at Kennford last night (Exeter Court!) :D

I had gone back to normal yesterday, but seeing how much came down overnight I not sure! Thankfully the garden is over 300' and we're the other end, but will have a look in the morning! Sky clearing on the way back 30 minutes ago, but wind now quite significant instead :(

The 'stream' hits a culvert about 400 meters away, so I wouldn't get enough of a run! Wouldn't want to try explaining to insurance Co just how the boat got lodged in a drain 2 miles inland... :D:D:D

:( Crikey, that's a bit too much above normal for my liking - that kind of increase would probably be quite close to the house for us!

Kennford is our nearest village. It suffered significant flooding last night, 30 homes affected with waist high water, worst in 50 years. And more heavy rain forecast for later on today....................

I can imagine that will be a mess - there was certainly a huge amount of surface water off the hills last night.

A good opportunity today to check boats carefully before tomorrows onslaught I think. :(

Very heavy overnight just upstream of you. The brook alongside our garden is nearly full this morning. Looking forward to more rain this evening,

Back up to 1.5m again this afternoon. Apparently there were folks marooned at the "caravan site" upstream and the local boatyard were unable to help them as they couldn't get their boat under Clopton Bridge. I offered to help but local police said "oh no" 'cos of Elf and Safety.

Just as well really as I expect , with my little 3.5 o/b, I'd have ended up in Evesham!!

This is the 3 rd time this year my garden has resembled the above quote. We are on flood alert and Thames is still rising.
