I have used very similar anti slip tape on GRP steps . It has been very durable.

'Tis basically sticky tape with sand embedded in it from china. Been used for 3 months. looks good......

We’ve used swimming pool anti-slip tape to great effect.I have to go to suburbia on Monday so I'll have a look at this anti-slip product at Bunnings (our National hardware chain). Five meters would allow me to put two strips on each step. But I'm keeping my mind open to other options.......

I was given a length of something very like this.

It was still in place doing its job over 15 years later when I sold the boat. If elegance isn't an issue they do a fluorescent one that could be useful to make the steps stand out in poor light.

There is a transparent non slip tape. Looks very tidy and I have used it in highly varnished racing dinghies to good effect. I have some but for the life of me can't remember where I got it from.
