Ok so I have bought an outboard for my tender (not a lot of money), silly me, I thought it would work.

My problem is that I pull the start cord and the engine starts no problem. I open the throttle very slow, the revs build, then it will cut out just as if you have hit the kill switch. Pull start cord and it will start again no problem, then it cuts out again.
I have looked at all the magneto wiring and it looks ok.

Any ideas chrissie

Definatly sounds like a fuel starvation, ie, not getting enough fuel through the carb when it is needing it.
Strip carb, remove float bowl remove brass jet on under side, blow out jet, or use one wire strand pulled from a wire brush with pliers to clean the jet, also remove the tube fitted above the jet, (emulsifier tube) it should have one or two rows of tiny holes along its length, if it is gummed up with varnish residue, you can boil it in a bean tin of water for an hour which will soften the gum.
Maybe it would be wise to check all fuel pipes etc for security and cracks or splits before stripping the carb down.
Sounds she is getting enough fuel on tickover from the slow running jet, but when the throttle is opened up it should start drawing fuel through the main jet which is then metered and atomised by the emulsifier tube which sits between the main jet and the venturi bore.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Ok will look at fuel after spark plug as its easier.

Does anyone know where to get spares for the gamefisher, what I am short of is the air filter housing and a filter.

This forum is absolutly magic at comming up with answers

Many thanks Chrissie
