This i have transfered from the East coast forum, our local galvanisers (wedge group)dont do chain (apart from there midlands branch) is there anywhere anyone else knows of that does?
Many plants will tell you they can galvanise chain. The problem comes when the excess zinc is removed as the chain emerges from the bath. It is often spun in a centrifuge, or shaken in some other way, which can result in many links being 'welded' together. When you hammer these apart many links will be left with no zinc on parts of them. Centrifuging removes a lot of the zinc.
Wedge's line in the midlands is specialised for chain: I am told it is the only one in UK. They typically run it about every fortnight. I have had two chains regalvanised by them, 50 and 60 metres. No links were stuck and the zinc thickness was considerably greater than with currently purchased new chain.
