Not a regular on the Thames forum, but picked up from one of the other ybw forums that Gallions Point Marina is threatened with closure, or has already closed? Can anyone tell me what the current situation is, please?

The scuttlebutt from somebody within CaRT is.....
The "marina" is being developed for Housing/Shops/ Cafes/Restuarants/ Cinemas etc etc by private developer.
The plan is very long term and not much will be happening for at least two to three years.
Rumour is they are are not very interested in the dock itself and may well just clear it out and leave empty.
Limehouse and other BWML assets.
To be sold as one lump and buyer(s) prevented from splitting up and cherry picking future money spinners while divesting the dead wood.
Profit has got to be in surrounding building land. Running and maintaining docks and lock gate infrastructure simply cannot be recouped from the income likely to be generated from boats in Gallion ,or any other marina.
The monetory value of having nice view of boats from your posh apartment balcony is a non starter in the real world, unless those boats are paying sensible rates like St Kats. ?

a friend from our club lives on his other boat a motorboat at gallions and before that he lived on his yacht there. its a nice location. but im unsure on fees etc
