You would have thought a few boats on view from your balcony would have added a bit of added value.
Did they say what was going in there.If housing then London Dock living must be just about at its Eastern limit...wonder if its commercial thats one big old underused dock ?

I was wondering if the Chinese were considering some sort of import dock but I suspect that the GLA simply want to clear the area to make it look more "attractive" depending on what you mean by that. I went down there a couple of weeks ago (walking) and I quite like it as it is but I can see why it is being viewed as London's Riviera by some people.
Looks good on a map but under the flight path for City Airport is far from ideal which is why the commercial side seems suspiciously possible to me.

I moored there more than fifteen years ago for just one year. Thought it would be a good point to leave for the south or east coast as well as the channel. I have to say it was a really poor and desolate place! It was cheap however at that time. I've no idea what it looks like these days? But when I was there it seemed like it was a place where boats went to die! I left after my year was up and ended up in Chatham, nice new marina and much better positioned for the channel etc.

Indeed. However, consecutive short term leases of 1-2 years prevented this (and even those were always subject to 6 month break clauses) so that's why our marina remained ramshackle. I'd like to see how anyone else could have achieved more with these restrictions, yet we still committed to putting everything (including every penny of our own savings etc) into doing the best we could. Long and short of it = used by property developers masquerading as government agencies who continuously promised us a long term lease which never materialised as being good tenants and no trouble, they used us for their own ends. Days turn into weeks, months and years then you realise your life has passed by and your life equates to nothing more than a box load of legal papers. Lost everything as put every fibre of my being into making this place the best we could in the face of adversity, including the chance to have children etc and all for nothing. How do you think that feels?

I saw motorised "houseboat " for sale in Limehouse marina. I think might be what developers have in mind for the docks.

Hi there, only trouble with that is the small detail of our site being completely covered by the Public Safety Zone of London City Airport which precludes any kind of high density population development. Who knows what goes on in their heads eh? But I know where they keep them and it must be pretty dark up there.....

I came to the marina a few weeks ago. I knew it was near the airport but Must say I hadn't quite gathered exactly how close you are to the runway !

That houseboat item I linked to earlier is advertised as having 10 "secondary moorings" in royal docks and it is motorised and can flit between Limehouse and I guess your lock would be their "way in" to the Royal Dock lifestyle adventure.
I wonder if they know what its like taking a boat round the island?? Its not really very comfortable even in an actual boat but in a motorised houseboat its got to be dangerous I would have thought !!

I wonder. These wouldn't be the "houseboats" that are to be built at Paglesham and towed round to the Thames by some outfit who've taken over the yard and closed it to visitors by any chance?
Edit. PS. When did that thing arrive at Limehouse? I walked around the basin to do a job barely a fortnight ago and I don't recall it being there then?

Dom Perignon has been at Limehouse about 10 days I would guess. It looks very "flash". I don't know where it was built.
Maybe it is actually going to be towed to Royal Docks and motored around in the dock itself between it's 10 secondary moorings. The idea of it being used to transit from Limehouse to Royal Docks on its own seems very bizarre as the River around the isle of dogs is well known to be rather choppy ! It is being sold with a berth at Limehouse so I do think they might be suggesting cruises on the River in it. 110hp diesel engine. A fair bit of power but not amazing . My 57x12ft barge has 90hp and a proper boat shape and that feels rather underpowered on the tideway sometimes.
