Does anyone know the best place to buy 'Formica' work top in its raw state, you know without the chip board. I want to overlay an existing surface and don't want to have to machine down 40mm thick chip board!! In the old days you use to be able to buy it in sheet form but I've not seen it anywhere recently.

I'm south coast based so local ish would be great.

Cheers

I bought some in Portsmouth abt 2 years ago, but cant remember the name of the shop. I think it may be the plastic shop at east end of orchard road near fratton station.

you can get it through any decent worktop suplier.. i used worktop warehouse in hamworthy dorset.

when i asked they said no problem in getting any of the paterns..

also have a look in B&Q at their laminate sheeting... i think the designed use is for decorative fire surrounds, i've had a piece as a hearth for years, very hardwearing.

god luck.

Kevin ,

I used this company last year when fitting out . They have a massive selection of quality laminates ( I would avoid the cheaper @ £15 sheets from some of the cheaper suppliers- you get what you pay for ! )

International Decorative Supplies 0208 550 8899 . They are a national company

Good Luck

I used bathroom tiles and they look good as you can get them in all sorts of styles and patterns and they are heat resistant But they may be impractical for a large surface area.
