Galley waste fitting

Had to remove the valve as it was completly blocked. The valve installed was of the ball type which you cant rod through. What type of valve should I use? It is old and around 3/4" so I would guess it is an old imperial fitting?
who is best to supply a one off item like this ( I am a long way from a chandlers)?

EVEN if I were next door to a chandler, for something like that I would still go to an ordinary hardware store; expect to pay 1/3 of what the chandlers would ask.

www.asap-supplies.com have a wide range of valves. I can't see why you can't stick a rod down a ball valve - I did this to clear my engine cooling water inlet last year. Buy a new ball valve, don't chuck food waste down the sink, close it every time you've finished using the sink and inspect it closely once a year. Make sure it's stainless, bronze, Marelon or DZR, not ordinary brass. When you come to fit it, check the existing hull fitting to make sure that isn't brass.

I assumed that I would not get a stainless or bronce fitting from my local ironmonger??
When I say ball valve I dont mean a ball with a hole which of course I could rod out. It has a sort of big ball which is pressed into and closes a chamber, when open the water flows around the ball.
Whilst we make every effort to keep waste food scraps out of the sink there always seem to be a few bits which escape.

I know. But it's not the same as what I referred to above as 'ordinary brass'.
