Galapagos fees

A posting on Captain Wiki says that you have to use an agent, costing $150, and pay $100 per person park fees. Can anybody confirm this - we are in Panama getting ready to head that way.
Can you check in without an agent?
Do you have to pay the park fees if you are just going to Wreck Bay and/or Admiralty Bay?
How long are boats being allowed to stay?
How is the provisioning there?

I have just looked at the web site of some friends that were there last year

They paid 170 dollars at the port. The web site is very informative, they may well have done the route you are about to.

We are a family on a sail boat cruising across the Pacific and stopped in Galapagos, at one of the 3 ports where you are allowed to stop. As it was difficult to find information on current clearing in procedures for Galapagos, we decided to share the following information:

You have to use an agent to clear in ($US150), as well as pay park entrance fees ($US100/adult), ($US50/kid aged 2-12), custom/immigration fees ($US30) and international port fees (light and bouy fees), depending on the tonnage of your vessel, and fumigation fees.

Once you have cleared in at a port, you are not allowed to sail to another port, except if you get a special cruising permit (at additional cost).

There are many activities, tours and excursions available, all at additional cost. For the low-budget cruiser, there is good snorkling, swimming, hiking and awesome wild life to appreciate.

I certainly did not use an agent to check in - fairly simple proceadure.... If you are going to Wreck Bay and Admiralty Bay etc you do not have to pay park fees.. You only pay the park fees when you go into the 'official' park areas.

I think the limit of time you can stay in the Galapogos is generous enough to allow you to enjoy it all and still be in time to set off for the Marquesas.... At least I do not remember having a worry about enough time.....

If you do want to 'do the parks' then the best way is with one of the commercial organisations as you are mainly not allowed to take your yacht into those areas... Most of the folks who did it with commercial companies felt they had a good deal and enjoyed the experience.

I only visited the non park areas, took a couple of pony rides and throughly enjoyed the place... saw stacks of giant tortoise and big sea iguana...

The provisioning is fine - probably better than the Marquesas..
