Hi all
Looking for advice have bought a sweet little 19 ft skanner hull no 006 I have sailed and owned a multitude of yachts but have never had a trailer sailboat before and have never set a gaff rig before I wonder does any one know where I could find information on setting the gaff rig maybe a hand book or you tube etc etc thanks in anticipation

Tom Cunliffe's "Hand, Reef, and Steer" is a good practical guide to using gaff rig, though mostly aimed at boats bigger and heavier than yours.

When I started with gaff rig someone recommended John Leather's "Gaff Rig Handbook" - I *don't* recommend it for this purpose. It's an interesting book about historical rigs and vessels, but has little practical advice about actually sailing one. Get Tom's book instead.

Hi, I recommend you join the OGA, the Association for Gaff Rig Sailing (old gaffers association) who hold events all round the country where you can very quickly learn from the other attendees. Many events are particularly suitable for, and some exclusively for, trailerable boats. A few events are now being planned for the next few months. Www.oga.org.uk . Where do you live?
