Hi, I have completed the fairly basic upgrade of our instruments and all is good with exception of my VHF. The plotter runs the gps repeater and AIS radar fine, I think the old autohelm ST6000 is ok getting info but will not know until sea trials for sure!
However, the MT-500 VHF set will not display time.position fix from the plotter/gps.
I have checked the correct sentence's are on that plotter output wire which they are.
I wonder, is it possible the MT-500 will not display the info unless it is set up with an mmsi number?
I am pretty sure it is wired up correctly.
I still have auto pilot problems with the upper helm control (ST7000) which used to work but does nothing but light up now..no beeps or controls from any of its buttons. It only has three wires too it from the master control and the fact it lights up/displays LCD charaters indicates it maybe a problem with it because although on the buttons do nothing?

Bear in mind that DSC does not work without an MMSI number ...

Depending on how this is networked the speed of the connection ( Baud Rate) maybe incompatible between the system and the radio. Also I believe that they are worried OUT to IN and IN to OUT if it is a serial connection.

Re the upper unit have you disconnected it? They are often daisy chained together. They ( well mine!) has 2 sockets - so do make sure that you have not accidentally disconnected one, but seen a wire plugging into it and thought that is all OK then. I did this very things last week. A rummage found the other connector. Plug in - all sprang back to life.
