Any good??

I have seen these advertised in a lot of chandlers catalogues.. it seems like a good principle but I was just wondering what people thought of the quality of the fabric and the fittings and straps etc..

Many thanks

Richard

I don't have one, but I did spend a while looking at one which was on display in a chandlery last summer. It seemed to be well-made, with quality materials and fittings.

Yes, a good reputation they had. But the present Gaastra is not the old one.
Since the sail-making arm of the firm re-emerged 1 1/2 yrs ago , they do not manufacture anything in The Netherlands anymore; all sailing stuff comes nearly ready-made from Asia.
I do NOT mean they are bad, just that you can't rely on the reputation. Most of the money now comes from their clothing lines, which are sporty urban outfits.
