Future upgrade.

I’m seriously thinking (still) about an upgrade from my Starfisher 840. We as a family love the layout of the prestige 32 fly but feel the style is showing its age a bit (sorry to all owners of the prestige). What would be a recommendation for a similar style of boat that looks maybe a bit more modern, or at least timeless?

Yes this is the main interest at the moment. The flybridge on them is a bit utilitarian though from what I can see in photos, useable for driving from but not too comfy as a lounging area. Also I like the idea of moulded steps. But that’s not imperative.

I have had the opportunity to fish and stay aboard a few times.
Very stable platform for fishing with large aft deck area ,V ery easy deck/safe decks to move around.
However good side decks do encroach on cabin space throughout the accommodaton.
In all the accommdation is a bit tight for more than a couple of nights.
There an no lounging areas onboard unless you took lilo's.

As I have an 8.40 version the interior is ok for us on the 10.60 because it has a separate cabin for our 10 year old. Whereas at the moment we just leave the dinette table in the down position and use it as a lounging space and his bed at night. I dare say it would be down all the time too on the 10.60. My swimbo is a fair weather boater so only really sits outside in the sun. Lack of interior lounging is not an issue for us. When it’s just me and the boy fishing we are also outside all the time.
What is your opinion of the flybridge ? Does it have a lounging seat or just captain and co pilot seats ? It’s hard to tell from the photos I’ve found.
 
From left field, but my shout is the Nimbus 4004.

Older [but timeless], so you will have to check the usual and that the boat isn't underpowered. But that wont be your problem, finding one will.
We were first in the queue last year for one in Scotland, but got bypassed by the free market and someone with cash willing to proceed without seeing it. :LOL:
 
There's a big Starfisher by the ramp at Brixham marina - think that's a 1060. Agree on it being a bit utilitarian.

I'd be thinking Rodman, and step it up to the 1250. That's a classy boat.

I once nearly bought a 840 though - lovely vessel. Had a mad owner in Gosport though who made the sale impossible.

I don’t mind utilitarian because im mainly interested in fishing. But the Mrs would like a comfy seat to sip her cocktails in the sun. Have you seen the flybridge seating at all??
Rodman 1250 too big and too expensive for my budget, but when my numbers come in, maybe!

Understand your requirement and should do the job well.
There are 2 bucket seats at the upperhelm with a deck area ahead of helm.
Never driven from top helm lower helm has good viz. Top helm exposed.
Check out fwd bed as very limited headroom at fwd end.
Like the boat very much use to sell Fairlines amongst others for many year.
The one in Brixham sold last year to the same guy who owned it 4yrs ago,That says something !

Ok got yer. Thanks, that nugget of info helps a lot. Not really bothered by low head room as the 840 is probably similar and that does us just fine. We only lay in bed, watch a movie and sleep (not much else with a 10 year old on board ?)so should be just fine!
Next would be to try and get on one to see for ourselves.

What I mean is that your head is under the walkway moulding at the head of the bed.
