Has anyone had a Fusion stereo repaired? My MS RA205 has become comatose. Not an unusual occurrence judging by threads detailing similar experiences. Corroded PCB is the remote diagnoses from Garmin.
They have offered me an unspecified discount on a replacement but I'm loathe to send more money their way given the expensive, purportedly IPX5 unit, installed below deck, has failed after 4 years.
I'd do without but the boat's PO installed various accessories which would leave either a number of unsightly holes or useless devices.

Mine did the same, fine one minute, dead the next, showing nothing but the Fusion logo, no backlight, unresponsive to anything. Was younger than yours. Was not even offered an inspection or potential repair just a discount on a new one, no thanks. "We've never heard of such a thing happening before Sir!" and yet the t'interweb throws up several identical cases. Yes, also left with unsightly holes from the now useless remote etc. Ripped the whole lot out and made good. Wouldn't touch another piece of Fusion carp ever again (although the speakers were ok). POS. :poop:

Mine likewise and I know another boat on our pontoon that had exactly same problem -I have a comatose Fusion born in 2015 which passed away this year if anyone finds a solution. There blow up green men last better than the RA205.

Yet another disgruntled customer here, mine failed after couple of years. Can't be repaired, no help from the makers. Best I can advise to anyone is don't buy anything from Fusion.
"Corroded PCB is the remote diagnoses from Garmin."
and this from a product that is supposed to be fully marinised. They are having a laugh at our expense

garmin have a good reputation for replacing broken stuff, even old stuff, free. I'd give the discount a go.

I know a little about electronics, (just enough to get lucky with the odd diagnosis and fix), so I opened mine up. Didn’t see any corrosion and couldn’t see any obvious problem.

IME that reputation is no longer deserved. They used to be very reasonable, offering fixed price repairs. The Garmin plotter, I bought new, failed on my last boat at 40 months old. They didn't want to know. I opened it up and there was water damage and obvious stress cracks where the casing had been over-tightened at manufacture. It was only when I threatened legal action against the blameless retailer that I received a grudging response from Garmin.

Interesting. Two of my friends (independently) have had recent experiences where they were given replacement, upgraded kit free of charge. Seems it’s a lottery based on your experience.
