On my journey towards 21st century boaty 'lecky, my shiny new LFP battery combo sports a Great Fat T-Fuse and carrier.
Nearby is my newly-replaced Optima AGM LA Start thingy, which is presently unfused.

I have a couple of Cube Fuses left over from the removed entirely-AGM LA setup, and a shed-load of different styles of battery clamps.

Should I incorporate a Cube Fuse into my Start Battery cabling? I'm aware there's a pro-level argument about this....
....and if so, what 'Calibre' of Cube Fuse might be appropriate?


The engine involved is a 479cc Beta 14.
 
IIRC Beta do not recommend one when they install ( I know Yanmar never do) but I would address the question to them as it's new and under warranty. As you say you know the arguments involved ( I have never had a fuse on my own start batteries) but at the end of the day its best to follow the advice of the manufacturer who provide your warranty.
 
I recommend an M20 bolt as that should ensure that you don't have to keep replacing it every time you crank the engine. ;)

No. It would degrade your starting current.
