I'm doing a mini rewire at the moment.

During the last 16 years of ownership of this boat I have to admit to rather a mish mash of
wiring etiquette . I'm thinking of the poor soul who has the boat next.

One area I thought I might try to get right is fuses. Most appliances come with their own exterior, or interior fuses. The radar has one inside the VDU for examole.

The switch panel obviously has a fuse, but, do fellow boat owners still use the in line one too ?

I have both, but some are more hidden than others.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the fuse in the panel is rated to protect the supply cable and are often too high a value to offer any protection to the load, the final fuse at the load + any internal fuse(s) are to protect the load.

Edit to give example
For instance you may use 2.5mm2 supply cable to reduce voltage drop to a load rated at say 5a but as the cable is much higher rated it would be protected at the distribution point by say a 25a fuse which would offer no protection to the load at all, though of course there is nothing to stop you using a lower rate fuse at the distribution board, save any resistance it may introduce which may introduce voltage losses at the load.
