Furuno Radar 1715 external buzzer

I would like to fit an external buzzer to my radar, an M1715.

The Furuno part 000-146-422 costs between 70 and 100 euro (depending where one buys it), which seems a lot for a buzzer with one metre of wire. Besides, fitting this part involves making a hole in the back of the case anyway...


Has anyone fitted a "normal" buzzer ?

The Furuno part seems to have some sort of plug: is it possible to connect two bare wires instead ?

The Furuno buzzer is a rip-off - and I was one of their victims. The exact same buzzer costs a few pence from an electronics store. Just get any 12v buzzer and wire it in.

should I want to fit a typical 12v buzzer with two wires, does this involve soldering/desoldering components ? Or can the two wires be pressure fitted ?
