I am intrigued that everybody includes Navtex in their shopping list.
With the ease of access to a wealth of information on the internet, and the MSI warnings on VHF, I havent used Navtex in 'anger' for at least 6 years.

Another endorsment for Furuno. Am presently lusting after an 1832 radar to replace my Kelvin Hughes.
If I could afford it, everything would be Furuno, it works if left alone, and if not - there is enough information in the manual to have a good chance of fixing it.

Their Navtex is a sensitive receiver, easy to use and well made. Only drawbacks is that it only receives on one channel at a time, and if you want to use it with a PC (e.g. with PC Navtex - www.pcnavtex.com) you have to go into the menu to tell it to download messages.

I know their radar will still work if the cover blows off and is fitted with the bottom half of a B&Q dustbin ...

Most fishing boats have their kit, none with Raymarine, although whether this new sleekit beastie ye'r spashing oot on warrants industrial kit .. erm ... !
