I have a Furuno Radar 1623, which works well, however for the third time I have broken the socket which takes the cable from the radar scanner. I have had the unit repaired under guarantee, twice, but it is no longer under warranty. Has this happened to others and is there a solution apart from superglue? The screen is not permanently installed, but on a bracket under the sprayhood. Because of this it has to be removed in the winter. The plastic casing on the back of the screen, including the socket itself, is made of very brittle plastic. Any comments/solutions?

From searching about for the NMEA 7 pin plug, I had no luck sourcing a spurious part. Some said these plugs and sockets were Furuno in-house, others curiously mentioned "Honda"
I never got any further as a suitable cable came up on eBay and I managed to snag it.
Any chance of super gluing the broken bits of the plug back together and binding well with some strong self-amalgamating tape?
Others may have better information.

Get another cable joiner, and site it 6" or so from the screen, then it is this join that you have to undo, rather than the one on the unit itself.
