Furono\'s rubber band
On the boat today, midday'ish, and switched on the chart plotter to look at some possible summer cruising.
Switched on the radar to 'exercise' it, dome temp should have been Ok as the sun was shining. Warm up time is a minute, which I think may not be enough. However.........
Watched the radar image for a minute or two, and was distracted by phone call.
A minute of so later, the Radar alarm staretd, 'no heading signal' or somethoing like that.
Assume the drive band has come off the motor and antenna spindles.
Same happened last year, so am able to go up the mast, take the top off the dome, and refit the drive band.
But it should not happen, temps must have been 6+ at least, certainly not below freezing.
Getting a bit fed up with this not cheap Radar/plotter Furuno 1712 set.
Last year I took it to a Furuno service agent who gave the set a good bill of health afer refitting the rubber band. It worked well during thr season.
Just as well I bougth a mast ladder last season.
