Has anyone had any experience with the foam attachments (made by Kemp's and possibly other sailmakers) which give a better set to a foresail when reefed, taking out the bag in the sail?

Thanks in advance for any information given.

Yes.

Some use foam strips, some sew in ropes to thicken the furled portion. The alternative is a foil that winds the belly out of the sail before the rest follows.

I've got a Kemps (Wareham) headsail with two foam strips, and it looks about as good as you can get when you take a few turns on the drum.

Now they've figured how to get (some of) the belly out of a furled headsail, what are sail makers doing about luff tension, thats what we need to know!!
