Fun Racing?

It's the annual dinghy club "fun" race next weekend. How can you make a fun race fun? I thought a novelTy starting sequence would be fun but inspiration is dead to me! Has anyone any fun ideas for a starting sequence for a completely non-serious mess race? These people really want to get to the bar as quickly as possible!
 
Start in the Bar

When the Royal Temple Yacht Club was founded in Temple Bar they did actualy start races in the bar....You could have a proper handicap..

The faster types have to eat a jacobs ceam cracker before they are allowed to leave for the boat...??
 
get the rescue boat to release balloons partially filled with water at various points of the wind compass. Prizes for the most collected (while observing racing rules, or course!)

Perfect... I have started many races from the bar, but only on day two and subsequent days of a series!

Coupled with the clubhouse start this could be a winning idea

Different coloured balloons for each point of the compass.... Utter mayhem!
 
The one race I dreamt up that would be superb fun would have had the following rules:

1-Competitors must have consumed at at least 6 pints of Stella before going afloat
2-The race shall be sailed in Tinker Tramp inflatable dinghies
3-Course shall be triangle sausage with a maximum distance of 25 metres between marks
4-RRS and IRPCS do not apply

My club did a race where on first leg we had to do a 360 deg turn 2nd leg throw overboard (behind the boat)a floating object and retrieve it, 3rd leg required 720 degree turn 4th leg required blindfolded helmsman and finally required boats to cross the downwind finish line with the boat moving :Dbackwards.
Lots of fun but i was worried about how long it took a couple of the skippers to retrieve their "MOB". :eek:
 
You could try setting a slalom course; 4 lines of empty plastic bottle markers with brick anchors. Out and back, place a flag at the end of each line to ensure it is returned to the start. Four sets of swim fins to be worn back to the club house for the bar, should make for some interesting finishes!
