Full Circle\'s bad luck run continues......

Jim has just called me from the yard.... his boat, fully ready for the water, was being lifted so that he could antifoul the keel etc, and the yard managed to wallop the forestay on the crane, putting a healthy kink in his furling foil.......

He is remarkably calm about it all...... and amazingly even seems to have sourced the bits for a fix for the weekend.... although not in time to bring FC round to Bradwell..... rest assured that he will still be coming, only by car, and has been offered a spare berth on the good ship Morgana...

From this point on, Jim is to be referred to as 'the bad luck anode', attracting every bit of bad luck available on the east coast and keeping us all safe....

Bad news Jim.... glad its a quick fix as well.

Enough to make a grown man cry.

Jim - would you like a leaking injector and a suspect battery - you seem so good at fixing things /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It maybe just as well that I don't have to sail to Bradwell /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Doug,

I think Jim wants to spend Saturday getting FC ready, and getting her to the riggers to get his foil replaced, so while I am sure he'd enjoy a blat down the coast, he'll probably be wanting to get FC sorted out....

Re: Full Circle\'s bad luck run continues......

Yep, I have sourced a new piece of furling extrusion, maybe fitted tomorrow.

Do you know what, the luck continued after I put the phone down to Morgana.

My keel was firmly wedged inside the box, and I spent an unhappy hour lying on my back in rivers of mud and water using the jetwash to blast out the clay and cockleshell bricks from inside the keel box.

I have put all the lines back on, and put my customary 6 fenders per side out, with mooring lines everywhere.

I will launch at about 0930 tomorrow, and fix the foil extrusion on the mud.

Anyone wanna buy a boat?

Re: Full Circle\'s bad luck run continues......

Chin up Jim ... what's happened to your avatar? .... as a friend of mine once said when I was still ashore after approximately 10 months of working on my boat trying to get her fit for sailing ...

'doing all those little jobs on the boat ... it's all part of the fun of sailing, isn't it?'

The afore-mentioned friend is still alive. But to this day, I can't figure out how he survived. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Some things just aren't funny !. Good to hear the repair is already planned tho, and just think, she's not even in the water yet /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I'm sure it'll get sorted Jim, just look forward to the beer tomorrow .........

A Victory.
By Pyrrhus.

On launching this morning, the engine started. Hurrah.
It failed to pump water. Boo.
After an hour of sodding about, got it pumping water. Hurrah.
Pity there wasn't enough water left to carry me away to Burnham. Boo.
Boat tied to pontoon. Hurrah.
Boat at 15 degrees of heel where the mud consistency isn't. Boo
Boat completely cleaned and back shipshape. Hurrah.
Had to empty 2 gallons of water out of bilges due to messing about getting it to pump. I hope. Boo.
Found 3 bottles of Duvel. Hurrah.
Forgot sail battens. Boo.

Try to take it round to Burnham tomorrow morning, sod the furling foil extrusion, that can be done next week. Hurrah/Boo mixed.

Re: Full Circle\'s bad luck run continues......

Sadly not.

Having some difficulty getting a replacement headsail foil extrusion in the UK, and the French are going on Bank Hioliday this weekend....

...and I still have a horrible leak, which I am joining the Dealer on board one evening this week with paper towels and talcum powder to see if we can locate it.

Other systems are functioing nicely. Kiwiprop working well again following pre season strip down to remove barnacles from the inside. All electronics good.

Is the Prout a serious consideration, or just a passing thought ?
Sorry to hear it's still not going well, and no I still can't afford her /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Full Circle\'s bad luck run continues......

There is an unfinished Prout in Dauntless Yard at Canvey......with a For Sale sign on it.
